Being the only child out of nine siblings to go to college has its benefits and rough moments. Coming from a household with that  many people you would never think a journey such as college would be in existence. Playing the role of the good guy to make everyone back home proud but knowing deep down your family is praying for you and depending on you. learning how to stay away from all the bad energy that college life has to bring thats what makes college students who go through these things successful. Nicholas Shell, a senior and Mass Comm major at Lane College deals with this same ordeal. Nicholas says, " having to come from a single parent home my mother pushed me to go to college and make something of myself. It feels great to be the first in my family  to go to school outside Georgia." Starting school in 2015 was rough considering the fact money was an big issue.being away from home and knowing money was tight back home really pushes you to another level. Speaking with different students to see if they also can relate, Jamario Wilson he is a second semester fresh man and a business major. Not knowing how long it will take to get use to college life you start to think maybe this is a sign. God would never put more on your shoulders than you could bare. People are put in certain situation for a reason, its all about how you adapt to the environment, go against all odds, and remember your motivation and drive which has brought you to where you are. The road will be long but you have to maintaine and keep that thought " im going to be the fisrt in my family to graduate college."
